EXPLORING MY SPIRITUALTY | CONNECTION TO NATURE

I love to explore ideas and concepts through photography using my camera as a tool.

So far I have created a series of conceptual self-portraits where I still am exploring my inspiration/spiritulaity with nature.

Rebirth is finding myself as an artist - letting go of self-doubt to enable myself to find purpose and meaning through out my art. I am in the water as it holds a significant symbolic representation of healing and letting go.

Inspiration is about being inspired by colour light and energy of a place.

Essence is about exploring my feelings of serenity – a feeling of becoming part of the land and sea. When I go walking along the coastal path, I like to take in the sights, sounds, moods, and feelings of the beach and sea – it almost feels as though I am becoming part of the landscape.

A SWANSEA COAST PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION 2016

My One and All: My Swansea Coast project has provided an opportunity for members of the public to respond creatively to their coastline and have their responses on show at well-established cultural venues.

MY ONE AND ALL

The original exhibition of these photographs was funded by and formed part of ‘Being Human 2016’, the UK’s only festival of the Humanities, at Volcano Theater in the center of Swansea, and also at The Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea University.

NATALIE HEMMINGWAY & CARL RYAN

A total of 75 photographs were submitted, giving a diverse and eclectic visual representation of personal visual connections to the coast. A selection of the photographs shown at the exhibition was created through photography walks, in partnership with Coastal Housing and Clyne Farm Centre, and led by local professional photographers Natalie Hemmingway and Carl Ryan.

PROFESSOR OWEN SHEERS

The poetry has been created and developed through a workshop led by Professor Owen Sheers, working in collaboration with student volunteers from Swansea University’s Creative Writing department. The poetry workshop inspired the participants to create pieces about their coastal connections.
